Hey it's been awhile since anything new has been written on this here ye olde blogger. So i shall try and bring you up to speed on the happenings in the world of the "Naked".
First up, the "Live @ the East" EP, is currently in production. Final mixing and mastering has been done and can be heard at New Found Frequency, http://www.newfoundfrequency.com/concert/2007-02-15/Deadly_Are_The_Naked/. As I write this we are sitting pretty at Number One the NFF charts! Have a listen and post a comment.
Since the recording of the EP, we have been gigging steadily. A highlight gig for me was at The Blue Tile Lounge a few weeks ago. We had an amazing musical night, filled with improvisation and extended jams. The Blue Tile has a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere, and is great place to chill out, relax and have a drink. (This sounds like an advert for the place, and yes it is!) I suggest you all come down on May 4th, where we'll be sharing the stage with The Funknecks & 12 Inch Clocks, who are two of our favourite bands. By the way, for a list of all our gigs check out our myspace page (go to the links section below).
Now most of you that now us personally, know that DATN are big Red Hot Chili Peppers fans. It shows in our music from time to time, (some would say all the time!), and it's safe to say they are a major influence on us. Well, Easter Sunday, Tim, Adam & myself, went down to the show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Anticipation was high, and from my point of view expectation was high, as I have seen them twice before. But the sound system wasn't up to scratch for the first half of the show, and was disappointing. From my perspective, I have a feeling Mr.Keidis' illness had an affect on that nights show & setlist, and I came away wanting more. One highlight was Mr.Frusciante's solo song.
Anyway, the next night, DATN, trekked out Preston to catch up with "our mate", Chad Smith. He held a drum clinic that night, which was an amazing experience. The man, is warm, friendly and a very giving human being (and yes some of us in the band are in love with him). We all got a chance to meet him after the clinic, as he was signing things for those at the clinic. Tim had a nice signature planted right on his left forearm, ask him about it next time you see him. I got him to sign a poster for Tim, and Adam finally got his chance to say hello. Jas on the other hand, gave Chad (we can call him Chad now, can't we?) a gift which was our "Live @ the East" EP. Mr. Chad Smith, if you are reading, please let us what you thought, good or bad!
After Monday night's experience we were all just a little too excited, so on Tuesday, we headed up to Revolver to get the excitement out, and we played a gig for Revolver's Summer Sessions. We had a good night musically speaking, (or should I say universally speaking).
Wednesday night, I met Tim and Jas at Federation Square, for Chad Smith's free show. The aforementioned special guests ended up being, Flea, John Frusciante & Josh Klinghoffer. With Flea on trumpet, the four of them experimented and improvised like a jazz quartet. I don't know how to describe the music they played, but I enjoyed it. It was a nice warm up for what was about to happen. I unfortunatley had to depart as I had no ticket to the show, but Jas & Tim went along. From what they've told me, Wednesday night was THE best live musical experience they've both had. But I'll let them tell you about it. Needless to say, Adam and myself are quite jealous, and for now we are not speaking to Jas & Tim.
Anyway, on Sunday the four of us are getting together and settling our differences at the Dandenong Hotel @ 4pm to play for all that want to hear some funky rocking tunes. It's going to be a fun afternoon! So that's it from me...au-revoir and til next time, may the force be with you....have fun, Darkness
